Police have confirmed that two people were injured in a Long Valley crash on East Mill Road on March 21, one of whom was taken to the hospital via police helicopter.

The crash occurred shortly before 12:45 p.m. Police received a call stating that two cars had been involved in an accident on East Mill Road—also known as County Route 513—and that there were serious injuries.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered that a Dodge pick-up truck traveling west had collided with an eastbound Toyota sedan near the center line of the highway. The pick-up truck was driven by a 65-year-old Chester man and the Toyota was driven by a 25-year-old Long Valley man—both had to be extricated from their vehicles before they could receive medical attention.

The 25-year-old suffered lacerations to his head and various other scrapes and bruises, and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The 65-year-old sustained injuries to the chest and abdomen and was taken to Chubb Park in Chester where he was picked up by a New Jersey State Police helicopter for transfer to an undisclosed hospital. The names of both victims have not yet been released.

Police diverted traffic for about an hour around East Mill Road at Coleman and Bartley roads in order to examine the accident scene. The Long Valley Fire Co. and Long Valley Chester first aid squads and paramedics all responded to the accident call.

Officer Roger Garrison has not issued any motor vehicle infractions pending the completion of the investigation.

Our attorneys and staff wish both victims a full and speedy recovery. For more local traffic and accident news, we invite you to like us on Facebook or browse our recent blog updates.
