One driver is dead and two more are injured after a Deerfield Township car accident on August 30, 2013 that started when a car suddenly veered off the road.
According to New Jersey State Police, 44-year-old Joseph Garrett was driving westbound on Sherman Avenue when his vehicle suddenly drifted into the eastbound lane between Kenyon Avenue and Carmel Road. Shortly before 7:00 a.m., Garrett’s car struck a Waste Management trash vehicle head-on, bounced sideways, and then collided with a Dodge that was traveling east behind the garbage truck.
State police spokesman Sgt. Brian Polite reported that Garrett was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
When state troopers arrived at the scene of the NJ garbage truck crash, they found the Waste Management truck on the side of the road, apparently forced off the road by the force of impact.
The driver of the Dodge, who has not yet been identified, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division. According to Sgt. Polite, the driver was admitted in serious condition, but no other information was immediately available.
The driver of the Waste Management truck refused treatment from emergency medical personnel at the scene, but it has been suggested that he sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. No charges have yet been filed.
Our attorneys and staff wish to extend our sincere condolences to the victim’s family and friends as we keep him in our thoughts and prayers.
